How long has Busy Kids been in operation?
Anne Lang opened Busy Kids in 2004. Several teachers have been here for 15+ years.

What qualifications do your teachers have?
All teachers have early child education training.  Most have completed an early childhood credential.  Some have degrees in early education.  All staff maintain current first aid and CPR.

What is your curriculum?

Our younger preschool classes use the Frogstreet Curriculum, which is a hands-on, developmentally appropriate, research based curriculum.  Frogstreet addresses all areas of child development, focusing on language.  

 

Our VPK is designed around the Montessori philosophy of learning.  We use Open Court to teach pre-reading skills.  Math Their Way is used to teach math skills.  We also use a specific art curriculum, titled: Meet the Masters, which teaches the children about famous artists and their works of art.

 

Kindergarten uses “Open Court” for reading and language arts instruction, “KinderMath” for math curriculum and “Learning Without Tears” for writing instruction.

Do you have a waiting list?
Yes.  We have ongoing enrollment and pull throughout the year from our waiting list.

Do you serve meals?
We provide morning and afternoon snack.  Children bring their lunches to school.

What ages do you serve?
We have preschool classes for 2’s,3’s, 4’s and VPK.  We also have a kindergarten class.

What are your hours?
Our classrooms are open from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and we have early drop-off at 7:00 a.m. for an extra charge.

Are parents welcome to visit anytime? 
Absolutely!  We have an open door policy and many opportunities for parent involvement.

Do you have cameras?
We do have cameras throughout the building and playground. Parents are welcome to come in and view the cameras at any time.

 

Do you have an app that I can communicate with the school through? 

Yes, we utilize ProCare.  

How are your class ratios?
 Our ratios are excellent!  We have an average class ratio of 1 teacher to 7 children.

Do you follow the same calendar as Highlands County Schools?
Our VPK and Kindergarten calendars are the same.  However we are open for child care year-round.  See the attached calendars.
